AnsuR Technologies (Norway; project coordination)

AnsuR Technologies AS (AnsuR) is a private Norwegian SME, founded by experienced satellite communications people in 2005. With top level satellite communications and system expertise, AnsuR Tech-nologies does high level R&D in satellite and wireless image, voice and data communications, develops own solutions, provides selected customers with advice and contributes globally via standardization and workshops. Our specific focus is advanced image communications.

AnsuR specializes in R&D for satellite and wireless communication networking solutions, in particular focusing on cross-layer aspects taking voice/audio/video/images into account. Efficient voice and image communications concepts are part of our Innovative Communication solutions. In satellite communications we have in particular strong expertise on Inmarsat BGAN (mobile broadband) and DVB-RCS (fixed broadband). AnsuR is further significantly involved in standardization work, disseminations and symposia and provides advice and scientific input to organizations such as Inmarsat. AnsuR's employees have previously worked in organizations such as Nera, Ericsson, Telenor, Norwegian Defense Research Establishment and Simula Research Laboratory.

iGeotec Technologies Ltd (Ireland)

iGeotec is a spin-off University company that was formed in 2010 (Maynooth, Dublin, Ireland) with the aim of designing, building and commercialising generic cross-platform geospatial solutions. iGeotec has developed Ubipix, a novel spatial multimedia technology based around SmartPhone and scalable client-server architecture. iGeotec is also developing three other spatial systems based around mobile applications, spatial gaming & data platform technology. The current business focus is commercialisation of its Ubipix spatial multimedia technology.

The Ubipixserver architecture supports integration of data streams with other EO datasets, GIS and stand alonegeographic databases supporting in-frame positioning and feature extraction. Additional core technologies centrearound providing new distributed, real-time geo-information services based around service oriented architectures (SOA).

rasdaman GmbH (Germany)

The research spin-off rasdaman GmbH has been established in 2003 with the goal to commercially support the rasdaman technology developed in research; in 2010, it has been re-established through a management buyout. Among rasdaman GmbH’s customers are Vattenfall Europe Mining, the French National Geographic Institute, the Serbian Republic’s National Spatial Data Infrastructure, and Glauchau municipality / Germany. Recently, two contracts have been finished for German Weather Service (DWD).

Founder and CEO of this Bremen-based SME is Peter Baumann who has researched in multi-dimensional raster databases since 1992, has 90+ scientific publications, holds international patents in this area, and is principal architect of the rasdaman DBMS which has been developed over a series of EU FPx projects where it has been successfully served earth, space, and life science data. A demo of rasdaman and OGC raster standard interfaces is available on www.earthlook.org. Peter Baumann has long-standing international project management experience. He is chair of the OGC raster-relevant working groups and editor of 8 adopted OGC standards and several candidate standards. Since January 2011 he is contributing to coverage-related aspects of INSPIRE Annex II and III Data Specifications. In ISO, he is working on an extension to the SQL standard with n-D arrays.

DMAT Consulting (Austria)

DMAT has a highly skilled and inspiring leader, Dr. Alois Hirschmugl, who ranks General in the Austrian Army and has been acting many times as field team leader. He has had a key role in the GEO-PICTURES project that in many ways extended some of the work in GEO-ASIGN and is also a sub-contractor in the ESA ESTEC BEATLES project AnsuR is leading.
